Patch 2.42.0: Masks that stay yours, and a helmet worth wearing

Masks that stay yours, and a helmet worth wearing (2 September 2026).

Released 2 September 2026. Back to the changelog. UCP patch notes.

Changes

  • New: Helmets have their own screen now. Use /helmet and the camera moves to your head while you try them on, with every helmet listed by name instead of a number. Only the helmets your game actually has installed are shown, so nothing on the list can leave you bare headed. The old typed /helmet with its on, off, next and texture arguments is gone in favour of the panel.

  • New: Gloves have their own screen too. /gloves opens a panel with the pairs that actually match the sleeves you are wearing, each one named rather than numbered, and the camera frames your hand while you browse. Typing /gloves leather or /gloves off still works if you prefer. Gloves now last for the session rather than being written to your character, which is what used to leave people with invisible arms.

  • Fixed: Your masked name no longer changes every time you put the mask on. It was picking a fresh Mask_00000 on each use, so anyone could take a mask off and put it straight back on to become a different person. Your mask is now a single identity that stays with your character, which means witnesses can actually describe who they saw.

  • Fixed: The mask shop has been rebuilt to match the rest of the clothing screens, with a search box and the camera on your face while you preview. Buying a mask now goes through the normal payment window, so you can pay by card or bank instead of cash only.

  • Fixed: Vehicle colours stick after you change them. The routine that saves your car was reading the colour back off the vehicle and writing it over the one you had just paid for, so a respray could quietly revert. This also affected admins using /amodify.

  • Fixed: The character selector shows one character at a time instead of standing your whole roster in a line, so a fourth or fifth character no longer clips into the furniture. There is a list on the right to switch between them.

  • Fixed: Clothing item pictures sit centred in their frame again rather than hugging one edge.

  • New: The loading screen has been redesigned around a blueprint of the city.

  • Fixed: Signing in no longer fails when your licence collides with another account.

  • Fixed: Tattoos appear properly again, and faces are kept when a character is imported.

  • Fixed: Characters are no longer invisible on spawn, and admins stop taking damage after leaving freecam.

  • Fixed: Company cuts pay out correctly, phone backgrounds show up, and fish buckets are no longer clea
