What it is
Every character has two pockets. Cash is the money in your hand: it pays for small things, it changes hands in scenes, and it can be lost in a robbery. Bank is the money in your account: wages land there, bills and rent come out of there, big purchases run through it and nobody can take it off you at gunpoint. The bank is a real system with four banks, branch codes, account numbers, cards with PINs, savings accounts that pay interest and standing orders that pay your rent while you sleep. This page covers what a new character needs; the Banking and finance guide goes into account types, interest and loans.
How to start
Your first account already exists. It is a current account, it holds your starting balance, and it comes with a routing number (the bank code and the branch number, such as FLC-01 for Fleeca Legion Square, the branch every new character's account is opened at) and an eight digit account number. Type /bank to see them along with your balance and the nearest open branch. The routing number stays the same wherever you bank: a Paleto Bay character still has an FLC-01 account unless they open another one elsewhere.
Press E at any ATM to withdraw cash, deposit cash, see your last ten transactions or pay a bill. Press E at a counter inside a branch for anything bigger: opening accounts, cards, large withdrawals and deposits. Branches are open from 08:00 to 20:00 UK time; ATMs never close.
The four banks are Fleeca, Maze Bank, Pacific Standard and Blaine County Savings. They all work the same way, and you can hold accounts at more than one.

Step by step
- Check your balance and account details
Type
/bank. You get one line per account with its type, routing number, account number and balance, and a line telling you the nearest branch and whether it is open. Write your routing and account number somewhere; other people need both to pay you. - Take out cash
Walk to an ATM, press E, pick Withdraw and enter an amount. Quick Cash takes $100 in one press. The notes go into your cash figure straight away.
- Hand cash to someone next to you
/paycash <id> <amount>gives cash to a player standing beside you; find their ID with/idor read it from their name tag. This is how deals, favours and split bills are paid in scenes. The other player sees a message saying who handed them what. - Pay someone's account
/pay <routing> <account> <amount> [reference], for example/pay FLC-04 12345678 500 rent. The bank looks the account up and shows a confirmation with the holder's name before any money moves. If the name you expected and the name on the account do not match, stop and check: paying the wrong account is not something staff will reverse. - Save a payee
/payee add <name> <routing> <account>stores an account you pay often,/payee listshows them and/payee remove <name>deletes one. Up to 20 per account. Saved payees appear in the phone's Fleeca app so you can pay them in two taps. - Get a card and set a PIN
At a branch counter ask for a card on your current account and choose a four digit PIN. The card pays in shops and at pumps: the till asks for the PIN, three wrong attempts lock the card, and a replacement costs $25. Savings accounts do not have cards.
- Set up a standing order
From the banking screen at a counter or on the phone, open Standing orders, choose the account it pays from, the payee, the amount and whether it runs weekly or monthly. A loan repayment to a friend, a regular transfer into savings or a monthly payment to a company are the usual uses; rent and mortgage payments do not need one, because they are collected as direct debits. Up to ten per account, and an order that fails three times in a row is cancelled, so keep the account topped up.
- Read a statement
/statementprints your recent transactions to chat;/statement 5678 2026-09narrows it to the account ending 5678 for a month. Every payment shows the reference, so use references when you pay people.
Fees and rules worth knowing
Moving money between your own accounts is free. Other payments cost $15 plus 0.1 percent, capped at $250, and a payment that bounces costs $50.
A single payment is between $1 and $1,000,000. Company and faction payments over $250,000 need a second person to approve them.
Confirmation of payee is on every payment: an exact name match goes through, a close match asks you to tick a box, and a name that does not match is refused.
Interest on savings is worked out every day in the early hours UK time and paid on the first of the month. Rates move slowly week to week and are shown when you open an account.
Bills and rent are direct debits from your main account.
/billslists what is outstanding and/paybillsettles one early.Weekly wages from a job are paid on payday to your bank, and you need eight hours of duty in the week to qualify.
On the English server, every character created before 20:00 UK time on 25 September 2026 is paid a one-off $10,000 Earthquake Support Payment automatically. It shows on your statement as "State of San Andreas: Earthquake Support Payment". See The State portal.
On the English server, characters aged 21 or over can move money between their bank and a Rigged casino wallet online. See Rigged casino.

Worked example
Maya Okafor owes Ray Delgado, the barman, $60 for last night's tab, and she borrowed $1,200 from her cousin Dee for the driving lessons, which she wants to pay back at $300 a month without thinking about it.
She is in Paleto Bay on the English server and types /bank. It prints: Current (current): FLC-01 24681357, balance $5,412. Nearest branch: Fleeca Bank - Paleto Bay (FLC-04), open until 20:00 UK time. Her account is at Legion Square, where every new account starts, but any branch serves her.
Ray is standing next to her outside the bar, so she types /id Ray, sees he is player 45, and types /paycash 45 60. Chat shows "Handed $60 to Ray Delgado." and Ray sees "Maya Okafor handed you $60."
Dee texts her account details: MZB-02 87654321. She types /payee add dee MZB-02 87654321. The bank looks the account up, shows "This account belongs to Dee Okafor" and replies "Saved payee dee."
At the Fleeca counter she asks for a card, chooses the PIN 4471 and is told the card is active. She then opens Standing orders, picks her current account, the payee "dee", $300, monthly, and confirms. The first payment runs an hour later and the next three on the same date each month.
Before she leaves she opens a savings account with $100 and adds a second standing order: $250 a week from current to savings.
What you see: /bank now shows two accounts, the current account down by the $100 that opened the savings account, her cash down by the $60 she handed Ray, and a statement line for each. Each $300 to Dee costs $15.30 with the fee, which shows on the statement as its own line. On the first of next month the savings account shows its first interest payment, a few dollars, and the rent goes out without her doing anything.
