What it is
Lifeinvader is the city's social network. Every character gets their own profile, and what they post, like, share and message is in character: other characters read it, gossip about it and screenshot it. It runs as a website at lifeinvader.roleplayproject.net and as the Lifeinvader app on your in-game phone, and both are the same network, so a post made on the website shows up on phones in the city a moment later.
Getting in
On the website, press Sign in and log in with your Roleplay Project account. In game, open the Lifeinvader app on your phone and it signs you in as the character you are playing.
- Choose a character
On the website you pick which of your characters you are using. Each character has a separate profile with its own friends, messages and history; switching character switches profile.
- Set up your profile
The first time, you pick a handle, a profile photo and a short bio. You can add a cover picture and change the rest later from your profile, which lives at an address like lifeinvader.roleplayproject.net/@yourhandle.
Your profile and feed
Posts can carry text, photos and video, can be shared, and take reactions and comment threads. The poster can mark a post as not safe for work, and it is then blurred until you choose to see it.
Friends and follows. Send friend requests, or simply follow someone to see their public posts. Your profile has tabs for posts, about, friends, followers, following and photos.
Notifications tell you about reactions, comments, friend requests, messages and anything else aimed at you.
Search, Explore and trending help you find people, pages and what the city is talking about.
Messenger and stories
Messenger is private chat between characters, one to one or in group chats of up to 50 people, and new messages arrive live. Stories are short picture or text posts that sit at the top of the feed for 24 hours and then disappear.
Pages, groups, events and the marketplace
Feature | What it is for |
|---|---|
Pages | Official pages for companies, legal factions and communities. People follow them; company pages also have jobs and reviews. A character who runs a company or legal faction can set up its page and post as it |
Groups | Discussion groups with members. Private groups take join requests |
Events | Parties, meetings and nights out, with a date, a place and who is going |
Marketplace | Buy and sell in character. List something, save listings you like and message the seller. The deal itself still happens in the city |
Games
Lifeinvader has its own games, all played on the website or the app:
Head to head: Connect Four, checkers, Battleship, chess and tic-tac-toe, each with an Elo rating that goes up when you beat someone and down when you lose.
Live Trivia every night at 20:00 UK time: join the lobby before it starts and answer against everyone else playing.
Speed Type: race other players to type a passage.
Invader Word and the Mini Quiz: a new word puzzle and a short quiz every day.
Games earn weekly points, and the top players each week win trophies that show on their profile.
RPP+ and safety
Verification. With RPP+ on your account you can verify your profile yourself and get the verified tick. Your display name and handle are then locked for good, so get them right first.
Boosts. RPP+ also gives you 3 post boosts a calendar month. A boosted post sits at the top of everyone's feed for 24 hours. Posts marked not safe for work cannot be boosted.
Blocking. Block someone and neither of you can see or reach the other on Lifeinvader.
Reports. Every post, comment, profile, message, group, page, event, listing and story can be reported to staff.
Worked example
Noah Park has just opened a tattoo studio in Paleto Bay through his company. He opens the Lifeinvader app on his phone, which signs him in as Noah.
He sets up a page for the company, uploads a photo of the chair and the flash sheets on the wall, and posts "Walk-ins welcome from 6pm tonight." His friend Tia shares it to her own feed. Twenty minutes later a stranger sends him a Messenger message asking what a half sleeve costs.
At 20:00 UK time he joins Live Trivia from the Games tab while he waits for customers, and finishes fourth. He has RPP+, so before closing he boosts the studio post for the next 24 hours.
What you see: the page with its first followers, the shared post on Tia's profile, a new conversation in Messenger, Noah's trivia points on the weekly board, and the boosted post at the top of everyone's feed until the same time tomorrow.
