Roleplay servers have a vocabulary of their own, and Roleplay Project adds a few words of its own on top. Every term below is the one you will actually hear; where a term is a command it links to the guide that explains it. Terms are alphabetical, with the slash commands and numbers first.

| A physical action your character performs, shown in purple to everyone nearby. |

311 | The non-emergency city services number on your phone. |
911 | The emergency number for police, fire and EMS, dialled from your phone in character. |

Admin | A staff member with an admin level. Higher levels have more tools. Staff act out of character and their word on the rules is final in the moment; appeals go through the UCP. |

Arrears | Rent or repayments you owe and have missed. Landlords and the bank track them, and enough of them ends a tenancy or a mortgage. |
ATM | A cash machine. Withdraw, deposit, see recent transactions and pay bills. Branches do the bigger jobs. See [[getting-started/money-and-banking-basics |
Autumn Harvest | A seasonal event with its own tasks and a leaderboard that pays Project Points when the season ends. |
Backhaul | A return load offered at the end of a trucking delivery so you do not drive back empty. |
Bail | Money paid to be released from custody before a court date on lesser charges. |
Balkan server | The second Roleplay Project server, played in the languages of the Balkans with its own rules and community. It keeps its city services in Los Santos; see [[reference/english-and-balkan |
Bleeter | The city's short post social network on the phone. Posts are in character and public. |
Blip | An icon on the map or minimap marking a place, a job depot, a vehicle or a person. |
Boss | The highest rank in a faction. Bosses set ranks, permissions and duty loadouts. |
Business duty | Clocking on inside a player-owned business with |
Choose an action | The small menu that opens when two E prompts overlap, so you can pick the one you meant. |
CK | Character Kill: a character's permanent death. It happens by agreement, by a faction's rules or by staff decision, and the character cannot return. The [[rules-and-laws/server-rules#roleplay-standards |
Class A, B, C | Driving licence classes. C covers cars and vans, B rigid lorries, A tractor units and trailers. Trucking checks them at the board. |
Confirmation of payee | The bank's check that the name you typed matches the account you are paying. A partial match asks you to confirm; a mismatch refuses the payment. |
Contract | A job offered on a board: a trucking run, a farming job, a hunting or pest control order. Also the tenancy agreement a landlord and tenant sign. |
Credit score | A number from 300 to 850 that records how reliably your character pays. It sets mortgage terms and whether a loan is offered. |
Crew | A group of players working together: a trucking crew, a farming crew, a racing crew or a criminal one. |
Deposit | Money held against damage or missed payments: one month's rent on a tenancy, a set sum on a cab rental, and the down payment on a mortgage. |
Dimension | A private copy of the world. The tutorial runs in one; interiors and some events do too, which is why you cannot see someone who is inside a house from the street. |
Dimension 0 | The shared open world that everyone is in outside interiors: streets, parks, beaches, car parks and every vehicle in them. Erotic roleplay is banned anywhere in Dimension 0 (rule E10.2). |
Direct debit | A payment a service takes from your main account on its own: rent, phone bill, utilities, mortgage. Distinct from a standing order, which you set up. |
DMV | The Department of Motor Vehicles, where you sit theory and practical tests for driving licences. |

Escrow | Money held by the game until a deal completes: a racing pot, a company-to-company haul, a tenancy deposit. Neither side can take it early. |
ESP | Two things. The Emergency Services Portal, opened with |
Faction | An organised group with ranks: the police, fire, EMS, government and courts on the legal side, and gangs and organisations on the illegal side. |
Fear RP | Roleplaying fear for your character's life when they are in danger. Required by the rules and the basis of every robbery scene. |
Fleeca | The largest bank, and the name of the banking app on your phone. The other banks are Maze, Pacific Standard and Blaine County Savings. |
FiveM | The GTA V modification the server runs on. Free, installed alongside the game. |
Footfall | Customers walking into a business. Businesses earn from it while staff are on duty. |
Games Night | Party games on a smart TV, where each player joins on their own phone-style controller with |
Grade | The quality of a catch, a kill or a product, from A downwards. Higher grades sell for more. |
Heat | Attention from the police on an area or a character, built up by visible crime and worn down by time and quiet. |
Helper | A player volunteer who answers new player questions. Reach them with |
HUD | The heads-up display: cash, bank, hunger, thirst, the minimap (shown while you carry a Portable GPS) and the notifications at the edges of the screen. |
IC | In character: anything your character says, does or knows. |
IFM | Illegal Faction Management: the staff team that oversees gangs and criminal organisations, their applications and their Discord. |
Instance | Another word for a dimension: a private copy of the world. |
Interior | The inside of a property. Most are shared shells picked from a catalogue; owners can restyle some with |
Landlord | A player who owns a property and lets it to a tenant through |
Lease | A tenancy. State leases come from the city at the door; landlord leases come from another player and have a written contract. |
Ledger | The record of every payment on a tenancy, a company account or a bank account. |
LFM | Legal Faction Management: the staff team that oversees the police, fire, EMS, government and courts. |
Loadout | The equipment and uniform a faction member picks when they go on duty with |
Lucky Wheel | The casino wheel. A free spin is earned by clearing a full daily task board or a week of |

Manifest | The paperwork for a trucking load. It is an item in your inventory and the police can read it at an inspection. |
MDC | The Mobile Data Computer used by the police and other legal factions for records, warrants, vehicle lookups and bookings. Players outside those factions only meet it from the other side of the desk. |
Metagaming | Using information your character could not know: name tags, Discord, a stream, this wiki. Against the rules. |
MLO | A custom-built interior loaded into the map, as opposed to an interior from the base game. |
NLR | New Life Rule: after your character dies, they do not remember the events that led to it and do not return to the scene. |
NPC | A non-player character: the shopkeepers, the bartender at some bars, the traffic. Everything else with a name tag is a real person. |
OOC | Out of character: you the player, rather than your character. Belongs in brackets, in |
Patch notes | The list of what changed on the server. |
Payee | An account you have saved to pay again with |
Paycheck | Weekly wages paid into your bank for hours on duty; you need eight hours in the week to qualify. |
PD | The police department. |
PK | Player Kill: a death that ends the current scene for your character without ending the character. They wake up later with no memory of it. |
PM | Property Management: the staff team that handles property requests, business set-ups and mapping. Also |
Pot | The prize in an underground race, put up by the entrants and held in escrow until the result. |
Powergaming | Forcing an outcome on another player without giving them a chance to respond, or doing something no real person could. Against the rules. |
PP | Project Points, also RP Points: the control panel currency earned by playing and spent in the |
Private interior | The inside of a property, which always has its own dimension. The only place erotic roleplay is allowed (rule E10.2). |
Property marker | The glowing marker at a property's door where you view the price, buy, rent or enter. |
Purity | How clean a drug batch is. Higher purity is worth more and does more; a contaminated batch can kill. |
Rally | A public call to a gathering with |
Rating | A flight school qualification. Each rating unlocks a class of aircraft after a theory exam and a flight test. |
RDM | Random deathmatch: attacking or killing another character without roleplay reason. Against the rules. |

Routing number | The bank code and branch of an account, written like FLC-04. With the eight digit account number it is how people pay you. |
RP zone | A rotating area of the map that, when the feature is switched on, rewards roleplay happening inside it. |
RPP+ | The server's supporter subscription. It comes with perks such as priority support and access to some properties. |
S to Z
Term | Meaning |

Scene | Any stretch of roleplay between characters, from a chat at a bar to a bank robbery. Starting, joining and finishing scenes well is most of the skill. |
Shell | A ready-made interior that many properties share. |
Soft restart | An update on the English server that loads while you stay connected: a countdown, a freeze of up to a minute, and you carry on where you were. The Balkan server restarts fully instead. See [[reference/restarts-and-updates |
Spawn | Where you appear when you join: a public spot, a hospital, your property or where you last were. |
Standing | Your character's rank on the Bronze to Legend ladder, earned by playing. Higher standing unlocks cosmetic and quality of life perks. |
Standing order | A payment you set up to repeat weekly or monthly from your account to a payee. |
Tab | A running bill at a bar, settled when you leave or when the barman insists. |
Tag | A hunting permit for one animal of one species. Shooting without a tag is poaching. |
Tenancy | A lease from a landlord, with a contract, a rent due day, a deposit and a notice period. |
Ticket | A support request opened on Discord. Staff answer account, bug, refund and appeal tickets there. |
Timesheet | The record of hours you have clocked in a company. Payroll is worked out from it. |
Tow | Recovery of an impounded, abandoned or broken vehicle to a garage, paid for by the owner. |
UCP | The User Control Panel at roleplayproject.net: your account, characters, settings, store, support and appeals. |
VDM | Vehicle deathmatch: using a vehicle as a weapon without roleplay reason. Against the rules. |
Warden | A player or NPC officer who checks fishing and hunting licences, bag limits and seasons, and can fine you. |
Wardrobe | The outfits you have bought, saved and changeable at home. |
Warrant | A court or police authorisation to arrest a person, search a property or unlock a phone. |
Waypoint | A marker you set on the map that draws a route on the minimap. |
Weigh station | A roadside stop where loaded trucks are checked for weight, paperwork and endorsements. |
XP | Experience points in a skill or trade: fishing, hunting, trucking, mining and the rest. Levels unlock better contracts, gear and prices. |
