Released 6 October 2026. Back to the changelog. UCP patch notes.
Changes
New: Fires now behave like the real thing. Every fire has a type and a class: structure, vehicle, brush, bin, fuel or gas (Class B), electrical, industrial and hazmat. Each one has its own fuel load, growth, spread and smoke. Left alone a fire grows hotter and spreads: structure fires move room to room and flash over, brush fires run downwind with the real wind and uphill, staying off roads and water, and a vehicle fire leaks fuel and its tank fails if it is not knocked down.
New: Use the right agent. Water works on ordinary fires; burning fuel needs foam or a powder extinguisher, and water splashes it and spreads it. Live electrical fires need the power isolated first (press E at the fire or /isolate) or a powder extinguisher, and water or foam on live kit can shock you. Type /foam while holding a hose to switch the nozzle between water and foam; the hose display shows which one you have.
New: Knocking the flames down is not the end. Hot spots keep smouldering and can rekindle. Stand over one and press E or type /overhaul to pull it apart and put it out for good; firefighters on duty see hot spots marked on the ground. Fires move through incipient, growth, fully developed, decay and out, and hazmat fires send a toxic plume downwind.
New: /firemanager now opens the Fire Command console. The board shows every active fire, whether it came from a 911 call, a smoke alarm, a callout or a captain: type, stage, intensity, burning and smouldering nodes, time running, units on scene, water used, location and the linked 911 call. Each incident has a live fire ground map with the wind, a timeline (call, first unit on scene, knockdown, under control, out) and its resources.
New: Fire captains and above can set up fires and scenarios from the console: a car fire on the highway with a fuel leak, a house fire with a person trapped for EMS, a brush fire on a windy day, a dumpster fire and an electrical substation fire that must be isolated first. Place them at your position, at your waypoint or at a preset location with a preview on the ground and the map, choose whether a 911 call goes out, and mark a fire as training. Escalate, de-escalate or remove fires from the board. Firefighters below captain can open the board to follow incidents and set waypoints.
New: Every fire ends with a close-out report: when a fire goes out it is saved with its times,
