Patch 2.146.0: Paleto Forest Sawmill: logging rebuilt from the stump up

Paleto Forest Sawmill: logging rebuilt from the stump up (11 October 2026).

Released 11 October 2026. Back to the changelog. UCP patch notes.

Changes

  • Content: The lumber yard is now the Paleto Forest Sawmill. Sign on at the desk (no more foreman, just a marker on the floor), pick one of eight forest stands from Paleto Forest to Raton Canyon on a map, choose a truck and pay a refundable deposit. The yard marks real trees for you in the stand and your GPS and a ground marker lead you to each step of the job.

  • New: Felling is a proper job now: choose which way the tree lays on a compass that shows other trees, rocks, downhill slopes and the wind, cut the notch with axe timing or by holding a chainsaw in the green band, stop the back cut with the right hinge left, limb the branches against the clock and buck the trunk into logs on a tape measure. Clean work grades logs A, B or C. A bad lay or a barber chair can hurt you, and safety gear takes the edge off.

  • New: Trees fall where you aimed them and leave bucked logs on the ground. Back the truck up, stand by it and winch the logs on. Trucks carry by weight (oak and maple are heavy), loads show on the truck bed, and rough driving can split logs and drop their grade. Unload at the sawmill log deck for a haul fee; your logs go onto your own stockpile.

  • New: Run the sawmill: send logs down the saw line to cut firewood bundles, timber boards, fence posts, structural beams or furniture-grade hardwood stock. Better logs yield more. Sell logs or timber to the depot, whose prices move with demand and the seasons (firewood in winter, building stock in spring), or take timber out as items to build with and trade.

  • New: A contracts board with supply jobs from local businesses, delivery runs to Paleto Bay, Grapeseed, Sandy Shores and Harmony on your crew truck, and player orders: anyone can order timber with the money held in escrow, loggers fill it, and the buyer collects from the sawmill. Unfilled escrow goes back to the bank.

  • New: Ten levels from Swamper to Timber baron unlock fir, oak and maple, new stands, bigger trucks up to a log hauler with trailer, better tools and new cuts, and add to your pay. Buy felling axes and chainsaws (fuel and sharpening at the yard) and safety gear; a full kit adds 3% to sales. Rain, storms, snow and night work pay extra on haul fees and XP.

  • New: Work as a crew of up to four: the leader invites people standing nearby from the app, everyone shares the truck and the marked trees, logs belong to whoever felled them, and
