Content: Downtown Cab Co. has a new depot in Sandy Shores. Sign on at the desk, then use the cab bay next to it to rent a company cab for a shift, buy your own cab (nine cars from the Stanier taxi to the Dundreary Stretch, six liveries) or bring out any cab you own. The old depot in Los Santos is gone.
New: A real taximeter. Press J in your cab to start or pause it and end the trip with /meter stop. It charges a flag fall, a rate per kilometre and per minute of waiting, a night tariff from 22:00 to 06:00, and extras for bags and extra passengers. Driver and passengers both see the running fare on screen. Distance and time are measured by the server.
New: Passengers pay at the end with cash, card or bank and can add a tip. Every trip has a receipt in the phone app. If a fare looks wrong you can dispute it and staff will review the trip. Unpaid fares stay on record and block new bookings until they are paid.
New: The Ryde app is now Flagdown, the Downtown Cab Co. app. Pick a destination, see a price estimate and the cabs near you, choose passengers and bags, add a note, book now or for later, then follow your driver on the map with their ETA, message or call them, rate the trip and keep your history and receipts. Drivers get ride requests with the rider, distance and estimate, and can accept or decline.
New: Hail a cab: on foot, press J to wave down a passing cab. Free cabs show a small FOR HIRE light with their rates above the roof, busy ones show HIRED. Taxi ranks at the medical centres, Sandy Shores, Paleto Bay, Grapeseed, Harmony and the Yellow Jack show how many free cabs are waiting.
New: When it is quiet, locals flag down on-duty cabs. Passengers have moods (polite, chatty, rushed, drunk, rude, nervous, tourists and business people) and talk during the ride. Some change their destination, ask for a stop on the way, ask you to wait and bring them back, pick up a friend, bring luggage, or run off without paying (report it with /taxi report). Smooth, safe driving earns better ratings and bigger tips.
New: Driver levels, ratings and a weekly leaderboard. Levels unlock better cabs and liveries, fares give Standing XP, and there are new daily tasks and achievements for drivers and riders. Driving your own cab keeps the whole fare, rented cabs pay a 10% dispatch fee and company cabs send a share to the company.
